Harry Kane may’ve been impressed by Spurs’ transfers

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was likely given some encouragement during the January transfer window after seeing the business Spurs done.

What’s the latest?

The future of the England captain is seemingly hanging in the balance with his contract at Spurs set to expire at the end of next season.

There have been reports suggesting the likes of Manchester United are showing an interest in the striker ahead of the summer window.

And there have also been some suggestions that the striker is open to the idea of committing his future to the Lilywhites and could ink a new deal in the coming months.

Speaking to Football FanCast, insider Dean Jones has claimed the January signings will have likely given Kane some optimism over the club’s ambitions for the near future:

“It’s going to probably go hand-in-hand with what they’re doing manager-wise, but I think Kane too will have taken some optimism from the fact that they’ve made two decent signings that should both actually help him flourish this season.”

Short-term success

Kane is now closing in on the age of 30 and with just over one year remaining on his current deal, it does feel as if his next deal could be his last major payday.

And there is the belief the England captain is looking for Spurs to match his ambition before putting pen to paper on a deal which would see him stay at the club for a longer period of time.

It has been a turbulent 2022/23 campaign for Spurs so far with recent results seeing Spurs slip outside of the Champions League spots in the table.

Do you expect Kane to sign a new deal?

Yes

No

No

However, having won two of their last three league games and securing a spot in the next round of the FA Cup as well as a last-16 tie in the Champions League, there is still a lot to play for.

But there will have been eyes on the January transfer window to see how ambitious the Spurs board were willing to be and they certainly delivered on their main target.

And adding to that was the addition of Arnaut Danjuma who has already gotten off to a bright start with a goal on his debut from the bench on the weekend in the FA Cup.

So it does feel as if Spurs have shown some ambition in the window. Could they have done more? Probably but there is a lot that needs to go in your favour if you are to have a big January window.

Two signings proved enough to transform Tottenham’s season last year and there is no reason Pedro Porro and Danjuma cannot have the same effect this time around.
