David Benavidez & Caleb Plant Angry Press Conference
By Jake Tiernan: An angry David Benavidez had to be kept apart from Caleb Plant for fear that he might attack him today in Los Angeles during their kickoff press conference for their March 25th fight on Showtime pay-per-view at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Twice, Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) stood up and threatened to harm a shaken-looking Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) while he was at the podium, speaking to the media. It didn’t look staged at all. Benavidez seemed genuinely angry and wanted to put hands on Plant.
Plant definitely looked worried, as if he didn’t know if Benavidez would force his way past the burly security that separated the two.
Not surprisingly, there wasn’t a face-off between Benavidez & Plant for obvious reasons. Benavidez seemed very, very angry, and there’s no telling what would happen if the two faced off.
Plant suffered a cut when was on stage during the kickoff press conference with Canelo Alvarez for their fight two years ago in 2021. It was better to be safe than sorry not to let the angry-looking Benavidez anywhere near Plant.
Caleb Plant: “I’m on weight, and I don’t test positive for cocaine neither.”
David Benavidez: “You’ve been knocked the f**k out by Canelo already. You’re going to sleep. That’s exactly what I’m going to do to you. At the highest level, you’re like a b**tch. You got thirteen knockouts. You hit like a little b**ch.
Plant: “Ask Anthony Dirrell. What did I do to Anthony Dirrell?”
Benavidez: “You want to do something?”
Plant: “You’re a tough guy, a lot of rah-rah stuff.”
Benavidez: “This guy is about to cry. Look at his eyes. I know a p***y when I see one. What do you want to do? We could go outside the hotel. You’re a f***king p***y.
Plant: “The dude is scared. He’s so mad. You’re not going to do nothing. On March 25th, I’m going to be there; I’m going to be in shape. I’m not going to be on cocaine, and I’m going to whoop his a**.”
David Benavidez Sr: “Just show up.”
Benavidez: “Trust me when I say I’m going to beat the living s**t out of you. When you’re on the ground, bleeding from the mouth, then you’ll learn how to really respect a fighter. March 25th, mark my words. I’m going to put this mother f***er in the hospital.”
